CAMBRIAN AIRWAYS C47 G-AGHS (c/n 10099)
Painted by Gerry McLaughlin
from an original by Marcel Ritzema and
Alexander Schmidt.

Another repaint of Marcel Ritzema and Alexander Schmidt's DC3. Cambrian were a Wales-based airline
who operated this 1943 model C47A from March 1961 to July 1969. Like many other British registered
C47s it spent the early years of its life with the RAF and then went to both BOAC and BEA.
BEA converted it to a Pionair (Dart turboprop engines!) but later changed its corporate mind and
converted it back to Twin Wasps again.
I painted this aircraft after Terry Morgan, an ex-Cambrian pilot, contacted me to ask if I was
interested in doing it. When I sent the completed aircraft to him, he told me that he actually did
the last Cambrian flight of this aircaft - to its new home in Cyprus!
He and Captain Tony Miles left Cardiff on the 4th August 1969 and made a fairly epic flight to
Nicosia (with fuel/night stops at Nice, and Athens). You might like to try that flight yourself,
but if you do, I hope you've got plenty of time -it took 13 hours 55 minutes!

I've fitted a modified AIR file which makes DC3s more steerable on the ground. (Sorry, but
I've lost my original download, so I can't credit the person who carried out the modification
since I don't know his name) If you don't like it, because it can make the plane bounce a
bit when you try to turn sharply, just delete the AIR file and re-name the Orig. Air file to
AIR file instead. That will make it like a normal FS DC3 - ie fairly unsteerable on the ground!

There are lots of great panels for the DC3/C47 - and excellent sound files -
make sure you download them to add to your flying pleasure.

CREDITS

Marcel Ritzema and Alexander Schmidt and John Kelley who did the original DC3 model which
this one is based on.
Airline Publications and John and Maureen Woods whose fantastic part-work 'DC3' is the
source of much of my knowledge on these wonderful aircraft. Unfortunately, my subscription
ran out at issue no 17 (or else they stopped producing it), so my knowledge ceases at c/n 10269.
I dont know how many more were made after that, but the c/ns go up to at least 26044!
Repaints of piston aircraft generally have to be done from photos. I regularly refer to
'Airliners of the 1960s' by Gerry Manning, 'Vintage Glory' by Adrian M Balch and Martin W. Bowmans
'Piston-Powered Propliners' as well as quite a few others which I will mention in future
re-paints.
Thanks to all of them too.

Now read the other textfiles to find out about installing the aircraft, and all the legal
stuff.

Just in case you can't be bothered to read the legal stuff - everything is somebody's
copyright, so don't sell this plane or put it on any software package or upload it to any
server who makes any sort of charge for downloading.

INSTALLATION

The file should unzip straight into your AIRCRAFT folder - if you use Winzip or some similar utility.
If you're uncertain, unzip it into a temporary folder, check it then move it into the AIRCRAFT
folder (after putting on your favourite panel and sound, of course)

Nothing in this zip file should harm your computer. But if you download the file, you accept the
risk.

Fly carefully!
